About Us
As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to motivate youth to analyze the collaboration of STEM core components with a primary focus on the incorporation of technology designed to encourage originality, promote the design thinking process, build self-confidence, and strengthen leadership qualities. We strive to provide a STEM experience to all ages using robotic engagement with an established and accredited curriculum. The STEM It Up Sports team brings a wealth of experience in education, youth development, and community outreach, united by a shared passion for empowering young minds through STEM.
CEO and Founder
Dr. Tonjia Grimble
Dr. Tonjia Grimble aka Dr. G, is the founder and CEO of STEM It Up Sports, where she champions STEM access for youth ages 4 to 101. With 30+ years of experience, she’s led national programs for under-served communities and taught in early childhood, K–12, and higher education. A published author and curriculum specialist, she focuses on integrating STEM into education from the earliest years. Dr. Grimble has managed childcare centers and shelters across three states and continues to grow the STEAM Center, inspiring youth to explore coding, STEM careers, and innovation.
Director of Operations
Cherri Rowe
A seasoned executive leader with over 20 years in nonprofit. With expertise in nonprofit operations, fundraising, grant writing, change management, leadership development, and relationship building, she drives impactful initiatives that uplift communities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Since joining Stem It Up Sports in 2024, Cherri has remained a passionate advocate for change, dedicated to helping young people reach their fullest potential.
STEAM Center Director
Brandan Grimble
Brandan has been with STEM It Up Sports since day one. He holds Google certifications in IT and Business Intelligence, among other technology credentials. Brandan manages the esports operations at the STEM Center, maintaining all gaming PCs and equipment. Beyond esports, he provides general technical and operational support across the organization. His passion for competitive gaming and technology drives his commitment to delivering a smooth and engaging experience for all.
Our Process
We focus primarily on exposing youth to different fields in STEM with the incorporation of technology. We use a series of robots to teach students different subject areas such as block coding, JavaScript, and micro-bits. Our lessons also incorporate elements of leadership/team-building skills among other subjects.

STEM It Up Sports is a partner in the Grow with Google program which offers resources for non profit organizations to teach people the digital skills that will grow their careers and businesses.

STEM It Up Sports is also a participant in the Microsoft Nonprofit Tech Acceleration program, which provides nonprofits with technology grants and technical consulting to help increase the impact of their missions.
