OUR PROGRAMS

EARLY ROBOTICS 1 & 2- 5 TO 6 YEARS OLD

Early Robotics is a soft introduction to the world of coding using Sphero Indi Cars. Early learners will explore robotics through technology, block coding using colors, mathematics, and applying the engineering design process. Early exposure to STEM core components will promote positive academic engagement during elementary years. This program is being done at the Arlington-Mansfield YMCA.

Cost: $129.00 for Non-Members, $0.00 for AMA YMCA Members

Days: Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 PM, 5:30-6:30 PM

Duration: Early Robotics One 1 Hour, Early Robotics Two 1 1/2 Hours

ROBOTICS 1 & 2- 7 TO 14 YEARS OLD

These programs introduce the concept of working in engineering teams to problem-solve various tasks and competing among their peers. Participants will solve challenges related to real-world issues and code the robot to perform. Learners will formulate as a team and work on their robotic project while applying leadership roles and task demonstrated in the engineering field. Learners will learn the following skills: block coding, java script, micro-bits, engineering, navigation, team building, leadership skills, and engage with field experts. This programming is done in partnership with the Arlington-Mansfield YMCA at the STEAM Center.

Cost:  $129.00 for Non-Members, $0.00 for AMA YMCA Members

Days: Mondays 4:30-6:00 PM, Wednesdays 4:30-6:00 PM

Duration: 1 1/2 Hours

ADVANCED ROBOTICS 7 TO 14 YEARS OLD

Advanced Robotics introduces advanced concepts programming multiple devices, working in engineering teams to problem-solve and conduct peer reviewing of various tasks and competing among their peers. Learners will explore rovers, little bits, bolts, and provide various presentations demonstrating their skills. Learners will build on the following skills: block coding, intro to Java script, micro-bits, engineering, navigation, team building, leadership skills, public speaking and presentation, and engage with field experts.

Cost:  $129.00 for Non-Members, $0.00 for AMA YMCA Members

Days: Thursdays 4:30-6:00 PM

Duration: 1 1/2 Hours

SPHERO GLOBAL CHALLENGE - GRADES 3 TO 8

The Sphero Global Challenge is the ultimate STEM competition and allows students to go deeper with computational thinking, engineering, and programming skills. Teams of all abilities are encouraged to work together to identify problems and develop solutions. For this year's theme (Sphero Goes Incognito), teams will design, program, and engineer their BOLTs to complete spy missions

Through this challenge, students will work to accomplish their goals in our regional tournaments, go on to the state finals, and ultimately compete in the World Championship.

LIGHT TECH SPORTS THERAPY (LTS) FOR GOLDEN AGERS- AGES 50 & UP

LTS for Golden-Agers is a robotic program designed to enhance the mind and boost cognitive function for adults entering their golden years. Studies reveal that introducing light technology usage to older adults may slow the progression of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Dementia. The LTS for Golden-Agers increased their technology usage through the introduction of robotics that involve hand-eye coordination, block coding, mathematical tasks, and physical movement. Golden-Agers will experience a series of robotic instructions that will promote prior learning, therefore, improving their short-term memory and allowing them to strengthen their multi-task skills daily. We use Sphero Robotics as an introduction for our golden-agers. Using tablets to operate the robots, golden-agers first develop learning instructions on the use of the operating device and then advance to the robots.

Cost: $70 Per Group of 7 Participants

Days: 3 Day Program

Duration: 1 Hour

Times: TBA

STEM EXPERIENCES

Modeled after escape rooms, this interactive programming allows participants to use different technology to solve the designated challenge. We offer three different game styles:

Bio-Crime Lab Challenge- 3 to 4 Players, 45 Minutes

The Bio-Crime Lab Challenge is a timed obstacle using a robotic rover to complete the challenge. Participants will navigate through the challenge to identify clues needed to discover the bio-chemical that destroyed the lab. Once they collect the clues, participants will have to correctly identify the chemical before it destroys the lab again.

Crime Scene Discovery- 2 to 4 Players, 45 Minutes

The Crime Scene Challenge is for the individual who enjoys investigating a mystery. Participants will work to solve the clues of a campsite crime scene by collecting and examining evidence and crime scene photos, lifting fingerprints, and much more to solve the challenge. Participants must hurry to solve the case before the criminal strikes again.

Robotic Maze & Obstacle Course- 2 to 4 Players, 50 Minutes

The Robotic Maze and Obstacle Challenge involves groups working together to control their out-of-control robot. Participants will navigate through the maze to collect robot performance challenges. Through the use of block coding and mathematics, participants will instruct their robot to complete a series of tasks to regain control and prevent the robots from taking over the world.
